Hi all, I have just started looking into the solar panel options around and had the rep from staybrite solar yesterday pm. When he eventually got past all the sales pitch, he quoted £9770 for 12 solar edge panels (3Kw) but for the price of 10 if we signed up quick enough to be marketing partners - no pressure though!! There was lot of talk about inferior foreign panels from competitors that weren't designed for the uk climate and how well 'optimised' his panels were. To be honest, I don't know how to find a firm that I could trust because I just don't know enough about the subject.

Horrible, horrible quote! You've made the first step by posting here and plenty of people will give good advice and ensure you don't get ripped off.

For about £3000 less you should be able to get 4kW of panels using the more expensive higher efficiency panels. So a third more electricity and a third more income for two thirds of the price.

If you have room for 16 panels then you could get 4kW even cheaper. Have Staybrite only offered 12 panels as that is all that will fit, or just because they want to skimp or just happen to have that kit?

You need to get that cancelled and invite some more installers round to quote. You'll almost certainly save some cash.

If you share your rough location then maybe someone else may be able to offer up an installer for you, Jimlad was only giving the price for comparison and may be nowhere near you.

May even be better to start your own thread, give your location, angle of your roof, which way the roof faces and if poss the size of the roof so we may know if its big enough to take a 4kWp system..even whether your roof has any shading(believe me...it matters).
Giving all that info will help anyone trying to help you
    2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)

That was Roxon Electrical in Gloucestershire. Very impressed with their service and installation. All happened in one day.
