  • You will normally hear from the OR's office within the next week to arrange a time for a telephone interview.

    Hi,

I was made bankrupt this week, my OR was in touch within 3 hours of being made bankrupt and asked a few questions regarding why i was bankrupt and about my car, rent and wages and who lived with me.

I had to send them a copy of the rent agreement by the close of play the following day or they would contact my landlord to confirm rent amount.

My interview is next week (i haven't had any forms of them yet though)

so it seems some are quicker than others also the contacting the landlord issue nobody should assume they won't even if you are up to date with rent I am glad i asked now because i can do without the hassle of a landlord going into panic mode when they hear the word bankruptcy.
  • Hi

Do you mind me asking how you wen't BC? Did you process everything yourself or did you hire someone to do it for you? I'm about to start on this and I have no idea what I am doing :/

There is no need to pay anyone for that.

Instead get in contact with a great free debt advice charity like Step Change (0800 138 1111) and they'll help you make sure that bankruptcy is right for you and give you advice on how to fill in the forms.

The Derbyshire CAB site has an example of how to complete the forms:

    http://nedcab.cabmoney.org.uk/bankruptcy628.asp

    http://nedcab.cabmoney.org.uk/bankruptcy627.asp

You can also contact the Insolvency Service helpline to get guidance on filling in the forms correctly.

And you can always ask for help here.
  • Thank you. That is really reassuring to know.

I've got myself in a right pickle and dealing with it is the scariest thing I think I've ever had to face :/
  • Hello WD2015

making the decision was the most daunting part for me. Once I decided I got help from step change and here. Planning is the next phaze and v important as others on here say the day in court is the last step.

    Good luck x

  • Just keep your focus on the decision you have made to file for BR. The rest is just detail. There is lots of help to fill out your forms and your SOA. Look at the stickies, call one of the debt advice charities or make an appointment to talk them through in person with CAB.

Once you have petitioned for BR and had your OR interview that is pretty much it all done and dusted. BR dies seem terrifying when you only consider it let alone actually going through with it, but honestly it'd not as bad as you think. It's a life changing expereince, some good and some bad, but sometimes you know it's the only way to go to help you move on successfully with you life.

Try not to worry too much and good luck.
