    ... I would avoid E45 and most of the aqueous creams if you can, they are not good for long term use because they can thin the skin over time. Just too many chemicals and of course they are all petro chemical based..

    I was told not to use E45 by our practice nurse, as it can thin the skin. I use Aveeno and its great. My dgd also has eczma but keeps it at bay with aveeno;

    I've found that for me, the important thing for prevention is to moisturise every day, twice a day if I remember.
    ... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

  • Thank you for your replies. I got some of the Aveeno body wash the other day and I must say my skin has hardly itched since using it. It cost almost £9 a bottle but its quite a big bottle and I can use it in the as a shower gel and bath additive. Once my E45 cream is used up I will try the Aveeno moisturiser.
  • Hi,

    I've recently started using Aveeno lotion on my excema prone skin. Until now I've been using E45 which had suited me well but my last request for a prescription for it resulted in a different emmolient which was far too thick. My mil had bought me a box of 3 large tubes of Aveeno as part of my Xmas gifts and until then I hadn't tried it. To be honest I'm pleasantly surprised. I apply it generously once a day onto damp showered skin, it soaks in beautifully and I'm not at all itchy although I am left with a slight tackiness in places. She told me that she paid around £10 from Costco for the box of three large tubes. Hth anyone but please do check as she's not got a brilliant head for numbers!!
