Cash on Go aka Peachy

Hi,

I have been in a DMP however came into some money through inheritance and so have this morning paid off all of my outstanding loans, apart from one!

I called Peachy and spoke to a chap who advised that they would accept a payment of £30.75 to close off the account. I clarified this with him as my balance was £209 but he was very clear that they were prepared to accept £30.75 to close the account. I questioned him to make sure that he wasn't getting it muddled up with a monthly payment amount from Stepchange and he was very clear that he wasn't. He advised that I had to call Stepchange to make this final payment and it would close off the account.

I called Stepchange and paid and then thought I would make a courtesy call to Peachy to let them know the money would be transferred by Stepchange on the 18th February and that it would obviously close my account. Except it wouldn't. Because the woman I spoke to this time round told me that my balance was £209 and she refused to accept that I had been told any different. I went over it with her and then asked to speak to a manager, at first this request was refused but eventually I got through to the manager who was very rude indeed. She refused to accept that I had been told this, basically calling me a liar, and telling me that I had to pay up the full amount or they'd send it to a debt collections agency.

I asked her to review the call as a matter of importance, and said that I expected her to call me by the end of the day to let me know the outcome. I've just got an email from them which says that their customer service representative was wrong and that there will be a 'remark' made to them about it.

Do I have any recompense over this situation? The manager couldn't even tell me where the man had got the £30.75 figure from?

  • Just pay the £209 and move on man!!
  • And this is why you never do any dealings over the phone.

I don't think you have any recompense I'm afraid!

    Hi LLB,

    HB_Star is right I'm afraid...

But hang on, so the balance was £209 and even after paying £30.75 it's still £209? Or is this cash still with SC?

That said, I'd probably send an email of complaint to them just to get it off your chest... Drop in the peoples names and date/time of the calls because they'll likely be able to listen to the calls as it could be that a bit of training is required ;)
