  • Drinking out/eating out and shopping for fun......£350 a month *eyebrow raise*.
And, you're not putting any money away for holidays at all - so cut the £8 travel insurance.

    I just saved you £358 a month and I only take a 10% cut :)

Would the income from savings and investments actually make more money for you than you would save by drawing down the savings and paying off the credit you're paying for each month?

  • Could you cut the £15 on cleaning products at all? This seems really high. I normally spend less than a fiver I would think.
Unless you have a cleaner...in which case can you get rid of the cleaner and do it yourself?

You could save £400 just by cutting out the drinking/eating out, shopping for fun and new clothes.

Also, given the low amount of use the car seems to get, do you actually need it? There's another almost £100 to save there.

How many people is this SOA for? Children are obviously in there, but how many? £350 seems a lot for food, but it is relative to how many it covers, of course.

You don't need magazines or newspapers at the moment, there's another £8. Satellite tv, there another £25.

Have you taken the MSE money makeover, look for the link on this weeks email, maybe with the cutbacks advised above and getting some money back on Ppi or by hitting ebay or whatever, the ends might be getting a bit closer?

Reluctant to suggest increasing income without knowing what effect would have on benefits. Assuming only one income earner, any chance of extra income from other parent ?
