True - they are hopeless in some stores - this offer is on the seasonal promotional aisle but in at least three stores I have been in the SEL in the normal shelves does not show the offer.
You sometimes feel like Mrs Doyle out of Father Ted trying to convince them to check it on their scanner, "Go on, go on go on" and seeing their surprise when the offer is indeed on, normally followed by some random comment about why Head Office/no one told them!

I looked in my local this morning, i saw only 2 types of finest pasatta, both £2.10 one with basil one without but both jars were bigger(cant remember exact size now) than what the op posted.
a cluster of tomatoes on the front of the jar in boxes and the wording passata tradizionale on a silver style finest label.
Not many were actually on the shelf...but it was a case of look upwards and there were trays of them on the top shelves with the discontinued yellow label on the boxing.
Long useby date...mine are 11/2014

Make sure you get the right flavours - not all JFs are on offer in W.
See http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/shopping/findproducts.aspx?query=john%20frieda&store=Waitrose set to W and you can see the £1.99 items as most are back in stock since yesterday when they were showing NA. Two from the following plus H&S Intensive Treatment plus at least 7 other fillers as H&S will not count towards your eight items.

Brilliant Brunette Liquid Shine Conditioner Illuminating not currently showing but was in stock until yesterday so should still compare (99% sure) for next 6 days (I gambled last night when I bought it and it matched on the APG this morning). A couple of the Frizz Ease also compared but currently not showing so May or May not match (search on this thread).

At a guess (calculation!) £10.93 or thereabouts.

Ha ha ha ha, you just pretty much described the scene in my local, before i fell to my knees, head in hands screaming ' FGS scan the thing!!!' lol

Definitely works with the foreign writing as above as I now have "a few". The other one has a different barcode so may not scan (unless the system has been updated) but if the SEL shows it as 3 for £10 you could still buy and then get a refund and gift card (but obviously could only really do that once).
