Adding myself to mortgage.

Hi,
My mum took out a buy to let mortgage in 2010 in order to buy a house for my family and I to live in. The mortgage is in her name but we pay it every month.
My mum has been unwell recently and it has made her think. Basically we would be clobbered for inheritance tax should anything happen to my mum. We were wondering whether I could be added to the mortgage to stop this happening. In 2010 we only had one child and I was a stay at home mum so I couldn't go on the mortgage from the start as I wasn't 'working'. The intention has always been to add me to the mortgage but we've since had three more children. Child are would be crippling if I return to work and my partner earns a very good wage to support us himself so I can raise our children. So me working is a long way off.
My partner has bad credit from before we met. He's paying his debts but it's unlikely he'll be able to go on the mortgage at the moment.
Does anyone know whether I'd be able to go on the mortgage now though I'm not employed?

If you don't work, and you've got four dependant children, i doubt that you'd get a mortgage, but there's nothing stopping you asking. Make an appointment with your mam and go and speak to her mortgage provider. I got a mortgage after my ex husband left me, but i was working part time, and they took all my benefits into account.0
