Sounds like a 1000% scam - get in touch with the share registrars (details will be on your certificate) and they will let you know what the position is with the shares.
If the company was sold then your shares will have probably have been bought for cash buy the buyer (possibly there may be shares in the buyer). If you never received this cash then get in touch with the Registrars (not a dodgy tracing company) and find out what the position is.0 -
Sounds very suspicious to me, anyway. I wouldn't give a dollar until make all the situation clear. Be careful with such temptations - you are right, it's too good to be true.0

sounds on the button to me very tempting when the are apparently offering a seemingly good deal but I am confident it is just a clever way to rip people off, the company website looked distinctly dodgy which made me suspicious with multiple broken links and not as well put together for as would be expected for a New York finance company.0

This is a scam. They've approached you out of the blue, which is always a warning sign. They're talking about shares you don't have any more, so you could never benefit from them. They just want you to buy something that "should" result in a 1000% return. There will be small print. You will lose your money.
When you think about it, the structure isn't that different from the old "I am from a small Nigerian Bank, I can transfer you $100 million if you'll just give me £5000 for the processing fee".
A mate of mine keeps getting phone calls from people about shares that he's sold some time before, I wonder if this is the same thing.
I'm sure you're convinced, but if not, post the same thing on the "Savings and Investments" board and see what responses you get.0 -
that fits and since I suggested it was a scam have heard nothing further to date, they hit you with documents and confidentiality clauses so it appears well worked a people may be at risk of going ahead without seeking advice0
