Halifax mortgage application - how long?

Evening all,

Just after any advice really...

My broker submitted a full application to the Halifax today (after receiving a DIP for my partner and I last week). I've paid £500 for a valuation today also.

My partner has a default (was young and naive!) on her credit history from 5ish years ago (is due to drop off in January next year), but since then has been squeaky clean. She's checked her credit file with all 3 companies (Call Credit, Experian and Equifax) and all show 'good' or 'excellent' - although I know this doesn't actually mean anything to lenders as such. I have a full clean credit history and a current mortgage on my current house in my sole name, all good there too!

I'm very scared that although we've had a DIP, this is a soft search and when it comes to the full application they may say no due to further credit checks and to the default showing on OH's history. The broker was fully aware of the date of the default and amount but I’m not sure if this is passed on at DIP stage??

Because of all of this, I'm just wondering if anyone has any recent experience of how long Halifax are taking to do the mortgage application? I’m a born worrier and desperate to know the outcome! J

As I said, I paid the valuation fee today and application was submitted today. The broker spoke to the regional manager at Halifax prior to submitting the application re: the valuation as I was nervous paying such a large fee before the case hit the underwriters. He suggested calling the developer and asking them to hold off on agreeing a date with the surveyor for a few days, to give the underwriters a chance to assess the case and do the credit checks, so hopefully this will work.

Anyone recently submitted a full application to the Halifax and could give me an idea of how long your application took?

Many thanks,

Ours went in just before Christmas, i think it was the 20th, Halifax offered on the 4th of Jan.
It also depends how quickly they can value it etc, also if there are any other complications, or they need more supporting documents etc.

We only had to give one payslip each.
