Right it looks risky BUT I clicked my Pc did not collapse its for buying in the States a lot of companies will NOT accept European Mastercard they do a thing called USA address Zip Address Verification to prevent fraud etc.

They also will NOT ship abroad there are some bargains to be had obviously you have to avoid electricals,then theres the shipping and customs too depending on whats declared value.

I am confused. You want to open an account with a US address, but as you say, some companies will only ship to the address registered with the card. Why would you want to ship to the PO Box address registered with the bank?

On a helpful note, if you search the Budgeting and Current account forums for a USD current account, you will find many postings. One recommended Mercantile bank (if memory serves) based in San Fransisco that would allow non-US residents to open an account from overseas.
