Did you have any dependants such as wife, partner and children?
If so, it's difficult to argue that life insurance was mis-sold. If you had died, they could have claimed on the life policies and cleared the mortgage/ loan. Then the life insurance from your work could have been used to replace your income and would have allowed them to pay for all the other day to day living expenses.
If you had no dependants, and no family at all, life insurance would not have been essential, as the house would have been sold to clear your debts, so you could claim for mis-selling on that basis
If you had died, I bet your family would have been grateful for the policy, and the word mis-selling would never have entered their mindsEarly retired - 18th December 2014

It is normal for people to have life assurance with their mortgages. In the past it used to be compulsory but now its left to common sense. Unless you were single, no dependants and living alone, the life assurance would be needed and not a mis-sale.
Your employment has nothing to do with life assurance for covering debts.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
