What's lurking in your freezer?

Options
First of all, I'll fully admit to being a food hoarder. I can't seem to stop myself. Anyways, I haven't got any space in the freezer for stuff I'd like to put in there, so I decided to do an inventory.:eek: Who knew?

Fish cakes, 2x potato and lentil soup, Diced lamb, Aduki beans, 15x meatballs, 2x portions of cranberry sauce, 2x portions chicken wings, 5x chicken legs, Cheese sauce, 2x rolled lamb portions, pizza, 2x pork mince, 5x portions pork belly, 2x tomato & chilli sauce, 3x carrot & coriander soup, Venison mince, Mixed berries, Stewing lamb, 2x sausages, 3x pumpkin soup, Diced lamb shoulder, 2x lamb stew, Mixed veg, 3x cauliflower soup, 2x minced beef, Spag bol sauce, 2x sweet potato soup, Chocolate cupcakes, Cooked chicken, 5x turkey burgers, 3x chicken fillets, 4x fish fillets, chillies, and finally - various cuts of leftover meat for the dog.

Everything, apart from the sausages is home made.

I don't think I'll need to go shopping anytime soon :rotfl:

So, have a go - find what's in your freezer ;)
(My freezer is in the bottom of my f/f, the above lot fits into 4 drawers.

I'm so bad that I've had to do an Inventory of mine :o.

I've put it onto a small spreadsheet and am editing whenever anything goes into, or comes out of the freezer - so far I'm managing to keep up to date with it ................

I have a medium size chest freezer in my porch (not enough room in my tiny kitchen) PLUS a large Fridge/Freezer with three drawers. I'm wanting to get rid of the F/F as it over-dominates the kitchen - so I'm trying to run everything in there down OR transfer to the other freezer for the time being. The sooner it goes the better .................
  • I am slowly trying to work my freezer down so I can defrost it and without a doubt the only way to do it is literally not go near a shop.I shopped three times in January and only once this month so far.I am definitely staying away from any shops if I can until my freezer stocks are a lot more reduced than they are at the moment I have worked it out that with luck it should be around April before I can defrost properly. Its all gonna go no matter what as I just want to see if I can use it all up.After all thats what I bought it for in the first place and its in effect money just sitting there in the freezer.:):):)

Being a geek, I have an Excel spreadsheet of the contents of my freezer. It also has the dates, so it calculates how long stuff has been in there and highlights it at 91 days. It really does give us control of what's in there.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)
  • I've just done a "stock take" of my tins and freezer (which I've only had for just over 2 weeks!) and I'm shocked at how much food I have... so I have it all on a white board on the wall to change when I've used something. Hopefully I'll only need to top up my soft drinks and not buy any food for the next couple of weeks!!
Thanks to money saving tips and debt repayments/becoming debt free I have been able to work and travel for the last 4 years visiting 12 countries and working within 3 of them. Currently living and working in Canada

    That's not bad, that's a brilliant idea!

I have a list of what's in my freezer(s) on the side of the microwave. It's divided into fish, meat, ready meals (almost all HM), vegetables and 'other' (like bread, ice cream, fruit etc).

Every week I use it as a base for my meal plan. I update it as I use things/put things in and when it looks a mess I rewrite it, checking the freezer contents against it. I'm not that fussed about how long things stay in the freezer but the turnover is reasonable.

JackieO, at this time of the year I take the stuff out of my freezer and put it in my (unheated) conservatory or cloakroom for a short while for defrosting the freezer. I find that putting roasting trays of boiling water in the freezer soon loosens the ice and I can put the stuff back in no time at all.

I am so bad at remembering to defrost freezer that I have been known to use my embossing 'heat gun', because the ice is so thick!
