Letter requested by Mortgage Lender

A friend of mine has asked me to type up a letter for his Mortgage lender, as he's not very good at this sort of thing.

The letter is to state the retirement date of my friend.

Is it just ok to state the retirement date, that my friend is retiring or should there be a specific way it should be worded, and if any other information should be added?

I've tried searching for template letters on this subject, but have been unable to find anything.

If anyone can offer me some guidance on this, I would be ever so grateful.

  • Why does he need to inform his mortgage lender of his (impending?) retirement?
  • I have no idea, as its not something which is due to happen for another 38 years.

He just said that they requested this in writing.

    Dear Sir

In reply to your letter dated xx/xx/xx.

My current plan is to retire on the xx/xx/xx when I'm xx.

    Yours Sincerely

The key question is sustainability of income. Some mortgage terms can be longer than 38 years.

Short and simple then. Don't flower it up.
