Good evening everyone, LPS44 – Thanks for starting us of this morning. I have had a very busy but productive day.
Today I have:- Attended college
- Attended an interview for a part time job
- Had all meals from stores
- Made shopping list in conjunction with meal plan
- Done the online shop using the list
- Sold an unwanted item through local facebay
- Sorted through the post – I got a pleasant surprise as I got a £5 voucher that I was not expecting
- Phoned mum using free minutes
- Checked postcode lottery & birthday bingo
I think that is everything that I have achieved today, I am going to watch some television and then get an early night x0 -
Bob- To answer your question, I got the first 3 stone off by healthy eating & cutting out cr*p & takeaways, then the next 3 stone off following Rosemary Conley's diet plan & doing more exercise. I was in the 'morbidly obese' bmi category & size 24/26 when I started in 2011 & now I can easily get into size 16 skinny jeans. I don't want to lose my curves so my goal is about another stone & a half off this year to be a proper size 14. Smaller portions & cooking healthy stuff from scratch has been good for the budget & charity shops have been my friends while replacing clothes in decreasing sizes. Am convinced that the same skills that got us debt-free, chiefly planning, being v organised & budgeting (think 'calorie budget') went on to help us crack the weight problem as mr f also a lot lighter.
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Evening all,
Feeling rotten today, luckily it's my day off but still had housework and refereeing my two boys all day.
Foxgloves thank you so much, I look forward to reading the list, I did my very best to not have the heating on today but I couldn't bare the cold.
Didn't post yesterday so my DFW list combines both days:
1) did my weekly food shop at 7.30 last night and again managed to get lots of yellow sticker items. For weeks now I have managed a weekly shop for 3 adults and 2 kids for £50. Feeling proud about that, I used to waste so much money and wasted loads before my LBM
2) filled my car up at cheapest station, sticking to my £20 per week diesel budget.
3) another week not using my tumble dryer for finishing off clothes, now I always hang almost dry clothes from the clothes horse over the radiators and they finish off nicely.
4) all meals as per meal plan, lunches taken to work everyday. I did succumb to buying myself a Starbucks coffee during the week.
5) took my boys for a good walk today, hoping for a disturbance free night, I've had two nights now of a little someone howling for no reason.
6) received a letter from next today, it was one of the debts I cleared last week, cancelled my DD and the letter was to confirm that they'd been informed by my bank of the cancellation but "that's ok because you dont have any balance to pay".............. Made me smile, such a little triumph but just seeing those words no balance made me feel on top of the world.
7) after borrowing a friends mannequin, I listed some items on ebay earlier and already have a few watchers.
8) did some surveys via toluna, thankfully qualifying this time.
9) made a beautiful rhubarb crumble for after dinner for hubby and I, all ingredients from stores and rhubarb from freezer. Scrummy when feeling so crappy.
That's it from me, have a good evening all.New Year New Motto - I will be debt free
Nationwide loan £12,000/£12,500,RBS CC £0/ £1200 int free,[STRIKE]RBS 2 CC [STRIKE]£0/£541,[/STRIKE]Next card £0/£360 [/STRIKE]TOTAL £12000/£14,601 :eek:0 -
Just scraping in before its the weekend properly! Well done on clearing that balance SettlingIn, and super weight loss Foxgloves. I'm hovering around the same as you now, but not very good at getting down to that next size!
Today we:- made bread by hand. It is delicious! I will definitely be doing that again (although DD did much of it, if I'm honest!). The flour was..er...2 years out of date but I checked it carefully no mites (it was sealed). I was prepared for it not to work but came up perfectly.
- found the lost key - no need to get another cut! Found it about 20 min ago though, so it was close!
- Did some swagbucking. I am getting some credits from a referral link posted on here (only place I've shared it so far). I kind of want to say thank you!
- Shopped at Aldi (for guests - mainly breakfasty things). I downshifted tea bags and ground coffee. Seems ok. Followed up with a trip to our nearby new Co0p, where I only really go for YS stuff. Ham for 20p today, cauliflower for 10p, Broccoli reduced to 70p, cheese on offer at half price.
- DD off school today. Entertainment = writing 500 words sort for radio competition, doing homework, baking and watching the bake off on iplayer

- Hang washing on line to dry!! x 2 loads. Lovely sunshine - briefly. Storms are back now. It was great though to get a good blow through the house.
- Blitzed house ready for guests (they are here, I am now sleeping in DD's bed, she is off with ex). Had a go at grouting in shower with bleach soaked kitchen roll strips - tip from someone on one of these threads before. Left strip stuck to grotty bit for a few hours, peeled off looking not perfect, but much better.
- Cold runoff when running kitchen hot water tap saved in jug and used later for kettle, washing up etc.
