Hi all,
I have been obsessed with this forum over the last few months - checking it for hours pretty much every day and it has given me so much hope and inspiration and so I thought I'd share how I feel today.
It all started 10 years ago when at 18 I went to Uni and Lloyds TSB offered me a 'Student Credit Card' (not sure how they could justify giving a student a credit card but never mind) I told the adviser in the bank that I didn't want it but they persuaded me - 'for emergencies and it only has a limit of £500 so you'll be fine' anyway limit of £500 gradually increased from £500 to £1500.
Anyway since then due to me being young and silly I defaulted on another credit card (paid in full thanks to my gran and due to drop off this month sometime yey), managed to do balance transfer last year for over £5k of credit card debt (Cap One, Vanquis and still the Lloyds from ten years ago!!!) to two 0% but still had £3000 O/D with Lloyds and over £100 owed to Next.
All in all my debt on Monday was £8323.58. With plans on getting mortgage I knew something drastic had to be done - I've sold my pride and joy, my beautiful car but this means today I have been able to clear my overdraft, pay Next in full and half of one of the 0% cards so right this moment my debts are £3520.44. I know I have a long way to go but it feels amazing. My goal to be debt free is 22/08/14.
I’m just kicking myself that in my stupidity I did take out some payday loans this time last year so even with being debt and default free mortgage may be a while again.
Today has been an amazing day and hopefully I can report more over the next few months
