Nice postcard from Quidmarket!

Not sure if this is the right forum - i think it is.
Received a postcard this morning from QuidMarket to say "we've attempted to contact you without success so your account has now been passed to our collections agent who will call between 8am and 7pm to discuss repayment on Wednesday 12th February"
"You can stop this by calling us direct on 0115 845 6434 quoting reference xxxxxx"
On the back it says outstanding balance of £322.77 with daily interest of £2.43
I'd never heard of QuidMarket before - looked them up (http://quidmarket.com) and they offer a most attractive 3280% APR.
Sadly, i never took advantage of that rate - so i assume someone else with the same name must have borrowed some money and done a runner - i'm a director of a number of companies so my home address is easy enough to find, or from the electoral register - so i assume they've taken 2 minutes to look for someone with the same name as they are looking for and have picked me.
I've never had to deal with one of these - friends have, and it's taken forever - so is the current advice
a) ignore it - by contacting them i'm only confirming that someone with the same name as the person they are looking for lives here - allowing them to hound me forever more
b) follow some long winded process of pointing out they are wrong (i found a template on here for a 'prove-it' letter)
Thanks

First of all I would check your credit files to see whether they have recorded anything nasty about this debt on those, and then keep an eye on them for the next few months.
Obviously if they have slapped false info and defaults on your credit file then it would be important and in your interest to proactively deal with this.
If there is nothing on your credit files, then it would be tempting to just treat this as a "fishing" attempt and wait to see if they send or do anything else.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks Fermi - hadn't thought of checking my credit file - good idea - it's a real pain that these people can cause such havoc without having to do due diligence on their victims!0
