The only "late payment fines" you would have incurred if the payment had been a couple of days late would have been a few pence of interest. Certainly less than the £25 it costs for a CHAPS payment.

From post #1 :-I used my UK bank account to send it same-day (paying an extra £25 to do so), to avoid any late payment finesIf you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
