Missed Deadlines

I work in a busy office. We have to meet cut of times everyday, I had a problem where colleagues brings work to me 5 minutes before cut off then expects me to drop everything to get the work done, while I am in the middle of doing something.
I feel guilty then as the work has not be worked in time, but they know what time the cut of is.
How would you deal with this ?

speak to your line managerSaving money right, left and centre0

Set your own cut off times for the stuff people bring to you.0
-
Send out an email giving the processing cut off time ie the last time you can process work for the actual cut off, copy in your line manager.
Print them out and stick them on the desk as a notice.
Remember - currently they know what time the cut off is, so they bring it to you before the cut off. They are doing nothing wrong, you need to educate them that the cut off time is YOUR cut off time, not THEIRS.0 -
I agree with speaking to LM and introducing your own cutoff. A lot of people work to whatever deadline they are given.0

One other issue
If this other something is not deadline work then you should drop it and do the deadline work.
It must be known what all the deadline work and how long it takes so proper scheduling should be possible.
So you should know which deadline work is coming and what is still not there as you get close to deadline so set aside the time for those jobs yet to turn up.0
