Hi,

What is the best thing to do if you have applied for a number of jobs which required references to be listed on the application form, but have since found that one of your references has handed their notice in at the company which you listed as their contact details ?

Well they can either give you a personal reference but if a work ref is needed from that employer you just list the company and I am sure the ref request gets to the right person who will then do it.

    Hi,

Basically most I've had to list the names of two people who have known me in a work or education setting. One employer apparently its company policy not to give out references, so give up putting them down. Most recent employer was work programme provider last year, so been putting the manager down that was manager when I was there

Now to give myself two references, and because I was stuck for people to ask apart from family, my advisor from the last year and a half said I could put her down as the second reference and use her on any future application, she was also there when I worked there. So I've been putting her down on every application for about two months, found today she has handed her notice in.

So I've got applications that have been sent with my last managers contact details, and advisors contact details on.

I could see if my work programme provider can forward her contact details to any employers should they get in touch.

Or I know she is on LinkedIn, so could try a message through there with it being a work related kind of site. But not too sure.

You have only had 2 jobs?

The advisor who is leaving can give a personal ref if you catch her before she leaves and you get her contact.

Yeah, came out of college right when the recession hit.

I'm thinking of trying to get a personal ref from her, however not sure whether she is actually working any of her notice or not coming back in at all, she has been off sick for the last two weeks

Which is why I'm wondering about trying to get hold of her about it on LinkedIn instead ?
