Hi,
I was bankrupt in Jan 2012 and discharged after a year, no problems.
Yesterday I received this letter!
Just not sure what it means exactly, as I wasnt aware about any tax issues during bankruptcy?! Thanks for you help
Dear Mr ******
Your Trustee has told me that you were declared bankrupt at ****** court on 16 January 2012.
Paying tax during the period of bankruptcy
From 16th January 2012 to 5th April 2012 your employer took tax of £913.50 from your pay.
You should not have paid this tax. If we had known that you were bankrupt during tax year 2011/12 we would have told your employer not to take tax from your pay.
What happens next
We will pay back this tax. We will send a cheque for £917.94 which includes interest of £4.44 to your trustee because you have given us signed authority to do so.
We will include the tax paid back in any claim we may make in the bankruptcy.
Yours Sincerely

Mean they should have applied a NT tax code but didn't. If they had you would have paid the tax to the OR, so they are putting it right now by sending them a cheque.
Doesn't really matter to you as is all done and dusted.

Lovely, cheers!
They made it sound as if it was my fault for not telling them, but I wasn't aware I personally had to?!
I thought the OR dealt with all that "stuff" lol0 -
