Advice required regarding unsecured element of a 100% mortgage

Hi Ladies and gentleman
I am looking for advice in respect to my former Northern Rock 100% mortgage which is now administered by Northern Rock Asset Management I have had this now for 8 years.
There is an unsecured element of the mortgage which is currently at £8,500.00, towards the end of last year Northern Rock had offered me a settlement figure for this element of £6,000.00, at the time I was not in a position to be able to pay this.
I am now in a position thanks to my family to be able to afford the amount of £6,000.00 so I contacted NRAM and asked them for a settlement figure and they said that they are not currently in a position to offer a settlement figure.
So my question to you is this, is there anything I can do about this?
Any advice or assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Kindest Regards
Paul

Just to check - do you still have the house and mortgage? this isn't a residual loan of the unsecured element after sale?
You say you contacted the to ask for a settlement figure - how did you do that? You could try writing to them and offering a figure you would be happy to pay but if they refuse then there is little you can do.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
