Companies don't like business phone numbers?

I had a call at work today, and as usual answered it "Hello, (my name) speaking.
The caller then asked to speak to (my name), and I said "Yes, who is speaking please?" as the voice sounded odd, she then replied "Is this a business number"?
When I said yes she apologised and hung up. At first I was just weirded out (she was clearly speaking to who she wanted to speak to) but now I am wondering if it was a comp win and they don't like people giving work numbers? I always use my work number as I am always at work, and I can pick up work calls even when I am out of the office through my mobile.
Has anyone ever had this happen?

Didn't you get their number ? Most likely sales.0

No sadly, they wouldn't even give their name! And the work phone system doesn't let you 1471 or log incoming numbers (as it went through reception)0

It'll be sales; they'll just be doing random cold calls.
If they call my work number, i ask where they got the number from, as it's a business phone.0
