No statements? First thing I would obtain.

    Hi,

Thanks to all for posting, a few clarifications, the loan is actually my wife's for her old business, she's not very good with paperwork hence the reason it is lost and when I say lost I mean for good. The business closed down five years ago and she threw away pretty much anything to do with it.

One more thing seeing as I am new to this what does OP mean?

    Roberto.

Absolutely no offence intended, but how certain can she be with regards to fine details if she isn't very good with paperwork? It might be that she didn't read the agreement properly at the time? Hopefully not though!

    None taken.

It was the fact that when we contacted them after 5 years to confirm the exact end date they told us April 2013 and I remember the conversation. The other thing is the very high rate of interest but from previous posters have said that may be normal. So will write to them and see what they say.

I am continually surprised at the apparently cavalier and casual way people, usually borrowers with a repayment problem, treat the paperwork on their loans. I would be a rich man if I had a £ for every time someone says they have lost or destroyed the agreements they signed years ago. These are the same agreements, the absence of which, that are now causing them financial hassle.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
