Do you have to obtain a certificate? My FIL was sent a copy of his discharge but never bothered to get one with the actual imprint of the court's stamp. As he is a pensioner and won't be requiring credit again, are there any other reasons you are aware of that he would need this certificate?
Just don't want to waste £60 if it isn't strictly necessary.

you are not required to obtain a certificate but some bodies who require proof of discharge may request one.
If he has a copy, then I would think that would be ok should he need to show anyone proof.

Under the old system, you had to contact the OR and request to be discharged from bankruptcy. It didn't happen automatically.0
