Just to explain the situation more clearly- the surveyor told me that I won't be able to get a mortgage for my flat. This seriously stressed me out- it was such a long process and such a lot of work and I imagined it could have all gone to pot because of a surveyor who simply did not know the local market.

The surveyor either presumed that I was stupid and did not do my research, or I was trying to con the mortgage company by hiding the fact that my flat was in a tower block.

    Both presumptions were wrong.

I personally do not think it was very professional.

I guess my mistake was to take what he said seriously.

He obviously knew f*** all about the criteria of the lender he was there to value for...

    Quality.

    Not.

Complain to lender and ask them if this is the kind of "professional" they want representing them.

  • I think all lenders/brokers should issue (sell?) some calming potions at the time of application. It's a stressful time, we know.l

That or gin or chocolate. Any better ideas?

    Glad yours was sorted

Agree, but it is also not their place to comment. Thoughts like this are rarely helpful when expressed, and it needs a combo of the valuer and the lender to come up with a view.

    Now breathe...
