back in nov I won a comp on direct2mum which was a sleepy bumps mat worth £24.99. however after many emails back and forth direct2mum cant get in touch with the competition vendor for my prize and so have today offered me a 20% off code from direct2mum website, is it just me or does this seem a bit unfair that I have to spend something to get 20% off?

It is not your problem if they cannot get in touch with the vendor, they should let you have something of the same value that you won,a code is not good enough and hope you told them so0

Threaten them with going to the IPM. It's not your fault they can't get in touch with the vendor. They ran the comp and owe you a prize.0

That's not an equal prize, I wouldn't be impressed if I was you.:starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod::starmod:
May good luck be your friend in whatever you do and may trouble be always a stranger to you.

that is not a prize , i would mssage them back and say the original prize was worth 24.99 with no spend and thats what was offered and should be ! if no joy go to imp cos they cant do that , they have to offer something of same or higher valueMassive Thank you to all who post comps & answers on here .i'm very grateful , good luck all.

It doesn't seem very fair to me, I'd go back to them like others have suggested and see what they can come up with. Best of luck.0

Just been reading the terms and conditions on the direct2mum website for the competitions. I can't get those terms and conditions but all the terms and conditions tend to be the same with just the prize's company varying.
I think you should subtly remind them of them when contacting them, especially the one I've bolded
The prize draw is open to all residents of the UK and Ireland aged 18 and over excluding employees and their families of Direct2Mum, Egmont Publishing, associated companies, agents, or anyone else professionally connected with the promotion.

I won some wireless headphones recently on a competition - they were worth around £50 but a few weeks after I got an email saying they couldn't source the headphones I won and they were sending me another pair instead (which were nowhere near as nice looking, not wireless, and worth around £10)
I was encouraged to email them back quoting their terms (which were the same as someone quoted here for the website you are talking about - that should a prize not be available, something of equal or greater value would be given instead)
I received no reply for a couple of weeks, but when they did email me next they apologised and said they had sent me a pair of limited edition Sennheiser headphones to make up for my disappointment - worth £250!
and a day or two later I received the lovely (much much better alternative!)
So I would say email them nicely quoting their terms and say how disappointed you are, and you never know what will happen!April 2014: A CAR!!!!!! :j 60th Anniversary Edition of Playboy mag signed by Hugh Hefner/Family pass to Twinlakes Family Theme Park/Rio 2 Goodies/£15 Promod Voucher/Nivea Sensitive Prize pack/John Frieda Cosmetic bag and bits/Tickets to New Kids On The Block + Meet and Greet0
