Cashplus Card Problems

Hi

As i have mentioned in prev posts i have had a Cashplus card since last October. I have had the card replaced 3 times & each one has let me down.

I have had the card refused i shops & restaraunts (very embarrasing) when there has been plenty of credit on it, the chip & pin has locked up on me several times frankly i am fed up worrying if computer will say no every time i intend using it.

My mother has now offered me the use of one of her credit cards a Barclaycard she hardly ever uses. She has given me the chip& pin number on the understanding i settle the bill in full every month & she sees the statements (i have no problem with that). All that is on the front of the card is her surname (same as mine) & one intial.

I really do need the convience of a cr card occasionally so will there be a problem with me using it in shops etc.

Thanks

  • Personally speaking, I wouldn't be happy to do what you suggest in case I was ever challenged to prove my identity when making a purchase. And there's no doubt it's against the credit card company's terms and conditions.

Have you tried another prepaid card, such as Splash Plastic? It's a Maestro card. I think the initial fee is £5 but transactions are free (except cash withdrawals, which are 99p I think). So I think it is a bit cheaper to run than the CashPlus card.

Why don't you just get your mother to request an additional card for you on her account? You can then use it legitimately.
  • Thanks for the replies.

I haven't bothered with a pre-paid Maestro as it is not as wideley accepted here or abroard as Mastercard. The card let me down again yesterday when again there was plenty of credit on it. Cashplus customer services can't explain why & just blame the retailers & offered yet another replacement card.

The reason why i can't go on my mother's Barclaycard as an additional cardholder is that i now have a poor credit rating.

    Thanks

Your mother can make you an additional card holder.
There would be no credit check as she (and not you) is solely responsible for settling the debt each month.

My father-in-law did this for my husband. We clear the balance and only use it if absolutely necessary.
