Hello everyone,
Hope you're all well.
My partner and I got engaged in January () and have a date in mind for our wedding, July 2016. We both are in love with the idea of a late-ish (around 4-5pm) outside ceremony and then a marquee or barn reception straight afterwards. We have come across some absolutely stunning venues but I am registered to this board for a reason! Money saving!
We love the idea of creating our own buffet for the reception with normal, down-to-earth food that all our guests will enjoy. So far, all the venues we've come across want you to choose from a select caterers or their recommended ones, or their chef, etc and we've looked at some of the food and it is just... not us. Our wedding day is supposed to be ours!
So - I've come to ask here if any of you lovely people know any great venues that will allow us to self-cater. We don't mind missing out on the outside ceremony if the reception venue is perfect. The venue would preferably be in the North-West but willing to travel 2hrs or so. OH has a lot of family in the south of Scotland so also willing to travel there.
Thanks guys!

What about trying village halls or sports clubs. As they don't do food there shouldn't be a problem. Our local rugby club is surrounded by other fields and near the canal so could look quite picturesque and the drinks prices are pretty cheap too!0
