Ruby wedding anniversary MSE style

We are celebrating our Ruby wedding anniversary in September and we want to do something special to celebrate.
Can we do it in a MSE way? Has anyone done it before on this board? I'd like it to be 'different' and involve family & friends, my DH wants us to go away ideally, but that isn't different for us we always go away. I think 40yrs is a long time and should be celebrated.
We renewed our vows for our 25th and went on a massive holiday, so don't want that type of thing.
So far DH only input has been to have a 'Ruby Murray', curry event.
That would be nice because on our wedding day we left the reception and went for a curry! What did you do? Or someone you know?
Can anyone help with some ideas please. I know someone will think of something I haven' t as yet. Thanks guys

I've been to a barn dance celebration before which is quite good fun as it gets everyone mingling. It's pretty mse too as you'd just need to hire a hall and the band. I'm not sure how much the band would be as the one i went to was run by a family member but I know they were retired and did it more as a hobby than to actually make money.0
