Certificate of discharge

How do you go about getting a certificate of discharge? My BR was 4 years ago so haven't been in contact with the IS since I was AD in 2011.

  • Contact the court you petitioned at...costs around £65-70 quid but can be free if on certain benefits

....as phil says..or contact the Receiver's office that dealt with the BR, ask for a letter confirming Discharge?

    Might well be free?

I've got a letter but planning to apply for a mortgage next year and they need the discharge cert so figured might as well go ahead and get it now.

£70 or there's about now from the court you went BR at.

You can be exempt from that fee on the normal income contingent benefit/low income remission scheme, but I would hazard if you are thinking about mortgages that this would not apply to you nowadays?

WLITC already has that letter (post #4) but requires the actual discharge certificate, which can only be obtained for a fee from the court you went BR at.
