has comping become your main hobby?

Options
Since I started comping 4 weeks ago, I've found that my other hobbies have fallen by the wayside. There's a couple of pc games I was enjoying (one I got for Christmas) but haven't played them since I started entering competitions. I find it too tempting when I have some spare time, to just come on the computer and enter some comps. Sometimes I feel like my new hobby is just form filling! lol

Yes - I keep meaning to read more books, but I spend more of my spare time comping than anything else.
  • Yes, it does tend to take over a bit! :) I do feel that I should spend a bit more time doing other things, try to get a bit more of a comping/other life 'balance'. :) I just don't like the feeling that I might be missing out on the 'winning' comp!

Yes, it's the feeling of 'missing out' that makes me spend all of my free time comping! I make a point of not taking the laptop up to bed anymore so I have to either read or play on the tablet. Good grief, I sound like a teenager!!!

My main hobby is going on holiday/short breaks but this one is a close second and I do tend to take the tablet and phone with me to do the odd comp while away. But then sometimes I win a break so they go quite well together! I won a tablet so downloaded the Kindle App and decided I would try to read more again but am still reading the same book a month later. :o

I pulled right back on comps now as I am also running a business, I now only really do ITV comps or comps for iPad's or Holidays

Yep definitely! I took 4 books out of the library about 10 days ago, and have so far read 3 chapters of one of them!! Normally I'd have read at least two full books by now! I think it's cos it's cold, more tempting to huddle inside by the PC and carry on comping, whereas if it was summer Id be sitting outside with a book!!

    Yes in the winter.
Although I keep up with dance classes too.

We travel about in our campervan going to festivals and music events in the warmer months so comping takes a back seat then.
  • No, but only because I've really made an effort not to let it. For the first year od comping it's all I did but I've cut back a lot now. I only comp for 2 hours (or until the daily and finishing in 2 days comps are done) on a morning and then put it out of my mind for the rest of the day.

Also as a family we have a no-screen day every Wednesday for more family time so I enter no comps on that day. Last year that would've been impossible for me I was so addicted :D

May you all have lots of luck, Emma xx

I love sewing and other home made crafts and I go through spells of comping more to sewing more, depending on the time of year. For example, at this time of year, I do more comping because there is less natural light and therefore harder to sew. I also make my own Christmas cards for family members, which I now start in September so I have completely finished them before Advents start. I love both my sewing and comping and get much pleasure from them both :)
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea
