What's cheaper? Fence or brick wall?

Hi all,
Can someone please tell me which option is cheaper?
The fence between the drives came down with the storm. Would it be wise to have a 4ft high brick wall it its place? Or have a fence with concrete posts?

Fence, as the wall will need foundations.0

Interested in this one as we're having our bush/hedge taken out & a fence put in its place when we have the drive done.
Personally i'm not keen on a fence & prefer the idea at least of a wall. This is because i work for a builders merchants & at this time of the year the panel manufacturers can barely keep up with the orders due to high winds.
They always feel fairly flimsy things (the panels) & they're heavily overpriced (or maybe that's just our place). I'm also not a fan of the look of base panels either (which also crack way too easily, despite their strengthening bars). I don't know how robust they are once fitted in but i can tell you from experience that they break way too easily when handling/transporting.
Is there some sort of panelling that's better than others in high winds? That's my main concern about them really. Would rather not buy a set of new panels every winter.0 -
In the short term fence will be the cheapest option but if you're planning on staying in the property for many years then I'd go for brick wall. Unless its a very robust fence ( expensive) then it will probably require panels replacing in a few years time0

The fence will be about 1/4 of the price of the fence but will last 4 x as long, all approx of course.
The wall will take 4 times as long to build as will the fence.
The fence will take 1/2 the space of the wall.
The wall won't blow over in a gale
The fence may just flex when you hit it with the car:eek:,
;)
Nice round estimated figures of the pro's and con's, so wall if you want it to last, fence if you want longlife and little maintainance;);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
