have got my papers for BR now, and will be filling them in during next day or two.
I have done a letter to all my credit cards informing them of my decision to go BR. Is this a good idea? also should i inform my bank? i have an OD with them that i can;'t pay back so they will be added to my list of creditors?

do you mean that you shouldn't send letters then? i'm just sooo sick of the phone calls and letters that i hoped sending them letters explaining the situation would stop all that. The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. You are not obliged to send any letters to your creditors, since informing them formally of your BR is one of the OR's responsibilities.
However there is nothing wrong with you writing to them yourself, since sometimes it can take the OR a while to get round to it. This can be especially useful to you if you are having problems with particular creditors and would like to get them off your back ASAP.
If you feel the need to write, then do so. Make sure you include a copy of your BR certificate, your OR's contact details, and put in the letter that all further communications regarding these matters should be conducted through the OR.
Some will ignore the letter, but other do and will stop contacting you.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
