I got bored with them today, and initiated a court action against them... more on my blog (see my homepage) for those who care.

One thing to be remembered, of course, is that these guys aren't interested in doing business with the canny so-and-so's who frequent websites like this one!

Everyone here will be going for the discounted items and them compounding the savings by using any old codes they can get their hands on!

What the catalogue boys want are the down-and-outs who can only buy on the never-never and, therefore, have to pay top whack.

Then they shouldn't have tempted us with a sale, should they! :)

Thanks for the effort to take them to court !
  • This could be a good thread to be moved/duplicated on the vent boards! Not sure if i posted my vent about GU on there, but they are the biggest bunch of cowboys I ever did meet!!!

I found out a while back that they have a 20% discount for 1st time offers, as well as 10% cashback scheme, and a generous 6% Quidco claim which in all lead me to make a purchase of a TV, and an xbox 360, both of which were in stock according to the web site. The savings I made were fabulous (even though the products are slightly overcharged on the web site compared to most other shops) and I was landed with the savings i'd be making.

However, after over 6 weeks from ordering, I still had heard nothing, and so called them. They told me that they were experiencing stock problems and would get my order to me as soon as, however this might have meant another 4 week wait!! Couple that with the fact that they didnt tell me my order was unsuccessful, and I had to pay £140 deposit before being allowed credit, 2 WEEKS after the 1st order (their mail service is the most pathetic i've ever experienced) and the fact that you cant ever get through on the phones, and when you do, information is scarce at best, my order was pretty quickly cancelled and I ordered from Currys for the TV, and choices for the xbox! Got a pretty damn quicker delivery time too!!!

They really are cowboys, and I know they annoyed an awful lot of people in various processes (most involving many new PS3 owners). For the love of god, dont shop with these cadets, and the companies related to them (which is most, if not ALL catalogue companies, Littlewoods, LX Direct, Grattan et al!!)

My mum ordered from the Littlewoods sale last week and she thought it odd that the delivery date was 5th Jul as they usually deliver within a couple days.

Yesterday came and went and still nothing today.

She tried several times today to call and couldn't get through. Finally she spoke to someone tonight who said they have just received today a letter from the warehouse saying the sale has been more popular than anticipated and as a result it could be the end of July before all orders are despatched!!!!

Awful service for such a large long established company.
