You might not be able to get one after being made BR until after you are discharged (and then perhaps for 6 ish years) due to them doing a credit check on you and I'm guessing BR brings up a massive red serieny warning page with 'BR PERSON woo-woo BR PERSON' on it (joking). But i'm serious about the credit check thing.
If they don't do a credit check though, you should be fine I think, as long as it's not over £500 worth of credit (which is sort of hard to work out on a phone I guess). You can get pay as you go though
Do not feed the trolls please.0 -
yes u can keep your current contract!!!!! and cant see why u couldnt get one after either!!!!
Because its credit. You can run up an unlimited bill or at least over £500 on a contract.
It depends on who the operator are but most will not allow bankrupts to have a contract phone. It’s in the T&C, check the small print.
As long as your mobile phone company are not in your bankruptcy then I would not mention to them you are bankrupt. I didn't with Orange. However as you can see below they could have dropped me if they found out.
Orange Mobile T &C 4.5.4
4.5 termination of your Contract by Orange
We may terminate your Contract immediately at any time in respect of any or all the Devices owned by you, in whole or in part, by giving you written notice if:
4.5.1
you fail to pass any credit assessments which we may reasonably consider to be necessary from time to time
4.5.2
you fail to pay any of your bills from Orange on time
4.5.3
we have good reason for believing that any information you have given us is false or misleading
4.5.4
you become insolvent within the meaning of Section 123 of the Insolvency Act 1986, or bankrupt, or make any arrangement with creditors or go into liquidation or become subject to an administration order or a receiver is appointed over any of your assets or if we have good reason for believing that you are unable to pay the Charges
4.5.5
in addition, we may terminate your Contract at any time after the Minimum Term has expired by giving you at least one month's written notice.0 -
I didn't include my contract with T-Mobile in BR and they've been fine (and they do know) This is a small way in which your credit rating will improve after BR. So long as you pay the bill on time! Mobile contracts and certain mortgages are about the only credit you can look forward to post BR0

I have been with orange for 7 years on contract and always paid my bills so I never told them about BR as I didn't include them but after reading northenone's reply i will pay dead on the dot from now on ...BR as of 26th April 2007 and feeling 10 years younger :T
If only ex could be sorted as easily :wall:0 -

It’s been know for Orange to “randomly” credit check people, the first the customer knows is when they have no signal.
You are ok after discharge it’s just whilst your bankrupt the problem lies as you can spend as much as you want on the contract.
I am also with Orange! :rotfl:0 -
Not uncommon if you're in a credit agreement. Banks do it regularly0

Thx guys. Looks like I'll just stick with my current network and hope they don't do a search.

I think you will have to stay with your current provider, as they will have already credit checked you.
If you decide to look for a better deal, you will simply, not saying you will, but you might just be adding more bad searches to your credit score.0 -
Any problems just get a pay as you go. It`ll also help you keep a check on what you spend each month.
