    Look on the bright side.
They are packaged now so you can list them as posted now.
So probably get a higher price

You should have sent a cancellation request to the buyer and refunded.

You can't keep someone else's money.

The time to discuss postage fees was at the point the buyer requested that they be collected by courier. The seller (OP) had them listed as collection only. In fact, the OP agreed to parcel the alloys up for postage and makes no mention of discussing packaging costs with the buyer at this point. As such, it would be fair for the buyer to assume the OP was willing to parcel them up free of charges. As the buyer arranged and (presumably) paid for their own courier then the only cost was packaging (not postage).

And yes, the seller should be refunded fees. However, this refund is due from ebay and not the buyer. Ebay has been paid the fees from the non-sale, not the buyer.

The OP hasn't followed ebay processes for having such matters resolved. Had they done so and indicated that the buyer had been refunded then ebay would have credited them with their fees back. It's not a difficult process - just a couple of clicks.

I agree with you completely. I was just clearing up what the OP was trying to say, not agreeing with him/her :p
    What will your verse be?

You have no leg to stand on.

Your fees would be a non issue if you had relisted. You listed again.

Your fee will probably be refunded IF you cancel the sale on eBay but you can't just keep his money! I can't believe he has to go to eBay to get you to refund!

As for the packaging, if you did not have sufficient in your house then you say sure, that's £10, otherwise I'm handing to the courier as is. You don't then bring them up later.

Pay eBay, then question the initial listing fee with eBay. None of those issues have anything to do with the buyer. At all.
  • Thanks to everyone who replied. As matttyre said below, I never intended to keep the buyer's money, he disappeared after not picking up the items after numerous emails then he reported me for not sending it. He didn't even email me to discuss the situation first and it was around a month after I'd re-sold them that he did this.

Looking at the posts yes I messed up, I didn't even think to open a case, I wouldn't have even thought I could have for someone who didn't want to collect their item.

Yes I did package them all up. I wasn't happy about it but I did it. I pride myself on my 100 per cent feedback and do all I can to help someone. I only wanted the costs back because I did that for absolutely no reason because he didn't turn up that I wanted ebay to take some costs out of the money they gave him back.

I will reimburse them for this, I have no choice, but I will never sell anything through ebay again. The buyer is always protected, it doesn't matter what they do and you can't give bad feedback.

My husband has just sold his ipad through gumtree after two buyers decided not to bother paying him on ebay. The second one had 100 per cent feedback but when you look at comments everyone is saying not to let this woman buy from them, yet ebay still let her hold an account.

    Thanks again for your comments.
