Asbestos???

Hi, I have just had a second viewing on the house we are buying and we have noticed the boiler has a flue that goes up a central column in the house that was built c1990???.
Anyway my husband thinks the pipe going out the top of the boiler is asbestos. What's the likelihood of that? And it going all the way up?
We were going to renew the boiler as it is original. I was wondering how much extra it would cost to remove this asbestos?
Thanks in advance
( I have a phot but can't work out how to add it from my iphone)?

Is the boiler functioning? If so, why renew it?0

More than likely asbestos cement pipe.
One of about 5 million still in use I would think.
Leave it alone until you replace the boiler.0 -
Call a specialist removal company for advice. We used Aastec - not sure if they are national. I found them really helpful - came withing 2 hours of me realising there was a problem (I removed plasterboard from the ceiling of my garage and discovered the ceiling above was asbestos), confirmed the type of asbestos the following day after testing it together with a quote for removal. And they removed it 2 days later. They even hoovered the whole garage after they'd finished. It cost £1000.00, but that was for a large double garage, and included disposal.
Definitely something to be left to the experts - and they may advise you to leave it alone. I needed to get rid because the house was in the middle of a full rewire and the electricians (rightly) refused to work where they would need to disturb it.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0
