Mobile phone contract 4 1/2 years post discharge

Hi hope someone can offer me a little advice. I was made BR in 09/09 and got ED 07/10. I have been very good ever since! Barclays have been entering a pretty green dot every month, as have british gas (?!)I am considering applying for a contract phone to start rebuilding my credit, but I am unsure whether to take the plunge! I cleaned up my files post discharge and everything showed as settled last time I checked. I can afford to buy the phone outright and continue on PAYG but thought this might be a good time to start rebuilding my credit score on something I need and will pay out on every month anyway. The contract Im looking at is £17/month. I did consider a SIM only and this is an option but I am tempted to try for one with a cheapish handset in the contract (would cost £80 on PAYG). What does everyone think? Thanks in advance for any kind advice given

You shouldn't have an issue in my opinion. I got a £26 month contract with EE last summer, just over 3 years from going BR.0
