Thanks, we seem to be going slightly off topic here0 -
Payday loans are usually taken out by people who know full well that they won't be able to pay it back in a month. I once read of a man who wanted to buy a drink on a night out but didn't have any money, so he called up Wonga who lent him the money almost immediately. So one drink has cost him probably two or three times the normal price. Do the banks really want to lend to people like him ?"Can't you have your ***** cut off ?" "It's not as simple as that, Nigel"

What I don't understand is why our own banks in the UK don't do short term loans for their own customers who have banked with them for a long time. Instead they do a "credit check" and say NO! Thus pushing people into the arms of the sharks & short term loan companies.
Don't know what you'll make of this but here goes:
Because the payday loan companies are an employer.
Although don't try to get a job if you have ever had to use the service as a 'good' customer..!
When people have 'small' debt (under 2k) although there are viewed just as bad as people with a lot more, they are forced into a corner the only option being available is a payday loan as the quickest and yeah easiest option, especially as these people tend not to have avenue's to clear debt as much as their difficulties are not masses - it is good for society if people can say "nah lady I have no debts due to the fact I've just been issued with a loan, I've sorted it cheers" kind of head in sand - better that then the other option of being bankrupt and dealing with all the awfulness and stigma that brings I suppose
A look round on social media sites does not portray the image that payday loans co's are that desperate to lend to all and sundry - maybe the advice pointers and moneysave tips they promote to should be soaked up more
I really was once stupid enough to think it was only Tooth fairy's awful line of "cradle to grave" - I was mistaken
Because I've come across banks more duluded then payday loan co's, I still wouldn't like to admit to who I'd borrow from first! LOL
Yeah you could argue that it is wrong to keep up with the Jones (not that I think b*****house customers would agree with all the interest they wind up paying?! yet no one says much about that.. like it's ok) it does also keep Alice in her Shop Assistant job, Rob behind the Bar to some extent as purchases = good for the economy all round
It is a shame that a recent c4 programme only featured the lender's with the greatest connections to America, kind of a moot point, here's hoping it will turn the banks with 'if you only trust someone' hahaha0 -
I knew that was the wrong 1 to use and that it would be picked up on.
Top marks to you.
My other pet peeve is the incorrect use of their and there. Half the people on this forum don't seem to know the difference.
Also, just don't get me started on the use of the word payed instead of paid.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
You know me so well.

If you ever spend time around American people you'll have another to add to that list: then/than. At least 50% of the American people that I know don't realise the word "than" exists and use "then" in place of it. Drives me crazy...0 -
