ICD Publishing UK Ltd - Why are they searching my credit record?

Hi folks,
I've had my credit report back from Callcredit and I'm hugely relieved (so far, still waiting for the other 2 reports) as it appears I might not have masses of people after me at all.
All account status' came back as normal and ok. No BAIs (whatever that is), no CCjs and no CIFAS Filings (whatever that is too!). So it seems that I basically have no credit record rather than the really bad one I was expecting.
One thing that did concern me though was that ICD Publishing UK Limited carried out 2 credit searches on me on 29/12/06. I have no idea why! A quick Google shows them to be the people behind 192 and responsible for selling lists of everyone on the electoral role. Is that why they were searching me? (Twice?!). Did I somehow, somewhere give permission for this? Do prospective creditors hold this against me? I'm confused.com.

I wouldn't worry about it as its long passed now and won't affect any other credit you might apply for as its over 6 months old.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

CIFAS is fraudulent behaviour 'flags' - ie any suspicions of any fraudulent activity on applications.

Three things to note here Tomarse:
1. CIFAS is the notorious fraud avoidance scam (sorry, typo .. scheme ?!), and you'd better count your lucky stars that there is none on your file
2. 2 credit searches .. are you sure they are credit and not just informational searches ? i.e. what was the search reason stated ? (see below). If they are credit searches, then they have been carried out without your response (presumably), and you have a legal right to having them removed. It doesn't matter that 6 months have passed, it's a matter of law. The way to dispute and move them is by contacting the company, or better still file a dispute with CallCredit.
3. CallCredit's quality of data in comparison with Experian and Equifax is very low. There is a lot that your two other reports (Experian and Equifax) will show that CallCredit's won't show. So much so, that while CallCredit might give you a very clear and re-assuring bill of health, the other two may well show you the complete opposite because they hold more accurate date, so I'd definitely get them. Another point is that CallCredit doesn't distinguish between different types of searches most of the time; hence, a credit search on CallCredit may well show up as an unrecorded or ID verification enquiry by the others, in which case it won't matter, because no one else but you can see those searches. The lenders will only see credit searches.
I hope this proves helpful, and wish you the best of luck.
