I've been getting a few emails in my spam folder from them and today I got one saying that they'd been trying to find me and I may have won £500 for tesco, I think. It says to press the link to confirm I've entered the sweepstake. Is this just a load of old rubbish or are they genuine?

I agree with Hampster that it sounds iffy. I never trust any email that says you may have won.
Suggest you don't click the link until you are sure it's genuine and safe.
Does the email address you by your name or user name? Can you see if it has been sent to a number of addresses? If it doesn't address you by name and/or your address is just one on the list, that would confirm it for me and I would delete it and forget about it. Otherwise, I would try and find the comp here and contact the host directly to ask. Or I might search on Google and contact buddy-mail direct, as long as Google didn't show them to be a scam site. TBH, even the name buddy-mail sounds dodgy to me.
Sorry, and hope I'm wrong.

Looking on google the only thing coming up is Buddy's Mail Room located in CA, where most spam places seem to live. :P0

Hi Newbie & long time lurker here..
I have registered to give you the heads up that perhaps this is not spam and merits investigation before you delete the email.
I would hate to see you miss out. I love reading the I won posts!
I work as programmer mainly working on social media apps and analytics. One of the main players in this space is a company called Buddy Media. Who has an extensive Facebook marketing suite.
buddymedia.com
slideshare.net/buddymedia ( some presentations about what they do)
slideshare.net/buddymedia/buddy-media-platform-8514621
( this mentions the sweepstakes app)
marketingmagazine.co.uk/article/1091867/retailers-reduce-facebook-posts-says-buddy-media
( Tesco mentioned here in this article, but I cannot find anything that confirms they are a client)
But they are a client of salesforce.com and salesforce acquired buddy media for mega bucks last year.
Anyways, just my thoughts that perhaps it's legit. If you can find the comp in question and it was via a sweepstake app then I would be pretty sure that it is all OK and enjoy your winnings!
Just tried to post this and it will not allow me to put the links in as I am new. so put a www. in front of the highlighted in red.
All the best0
