A silly Question?? Chrome Autofill

Options
Does anybody know this...
When I fill in an entry from with autofill on Google chrome the boxes are yellow, but if I type in the boxes manually they are white.
I still get the same "thanks for your entry" messages

But does it make a difference if the boxes are yellow or white...

If some-one says I've been comping for 8 months and my entries haven't been valid I might just cry? :(

Thanks in advance :)

  • Hi! I'm a newbie here and I'm glad you asked this question as I have always wanted to know too. I don't feel it's a silly question at all especially when you put so much effort into it. I'm very new to autofill and I'm trying to work out what is the best way to do this on my tablet (Google chrome).

Well, it was something I wondered about too when I joined the 'club' here - and it has been discussed on CCC before now (you could search terms e.g. 'yellow' boxes' under CCC thread to view other entries on this subject)

I use Chrome autofill sometimes, but more commonly roboform on IE or LastPass on Chrome now as I found they were much easier to use and more accurate in filling the boxes with the correct info.

When I did/do use Chrome, I do tend to highlight, copy, delete and repaste the text to remove the 'yellow' colour (easy to highlight txt, then ctrl C to copy, delete then ctrl V to repaste) so only adds on a few seconds to the entry process, but I suppose it's peace of mind for me as I wouldn't want to think my entry had been rejected on the yellow box basis!

But, each to their own and whatever works for you. I'm sure other more experienced compers may be able to offer more accurate info, but for what it's worth, HTH :D

:grouphug: sorry for the 'pervy' group hug (lol), but my advice is don't assume they have been rejected otherwise you'll drive yourself mad  I don't think there is a clear definitive answer either way (not that I've found) so just decide instead how you wish to move forward with your comping techniques, and focus on that instead :A :D

Happy comping and sprinklings of lucky fairy dust all round ;)

The above is a helpful thread, I think... :)

There are lots of form-filler options, and it might be worth trying a few different ones to see what suits. I use - and really like Roboform - but haven't used others to compare it to :D

Like Biker Chick said, don't worry too much about the past, and allow yourself to move forward in your comping with excitement and positivity about all those future prizes :D:D

This should not make a difference unless the terms specify no autofill. Even if they do, that doesn't necessarily mean they will bother to discount your entry. I think it will depend what they are trying to control. I suppose it could be that some will use it to reject what they perceive to be 'professional' compers. But they can only legitimately remove an entry for reasons specified in the T&C. My guess is that it is unlikely to have affected many, possibly any, of your entries.

You might want to consider trying roboform or lastpass. I've used both and much prefer lastpass, but each to their own.

FunkyFreks, there's absolutely nothing to say for certain whether they work or not with the yellow boxes - it's all pretty much speculation from what I can see. I would just believe that at least some of your entries will have gone through, and like you say, onwards and upwards :)

  • I've just had a look at my WEMs and I have definitely won comps using Chrome autofill. Never noticed yellow boxes though.
