I got my wardrobes from Ikea and I am really pleased with the cost and quality. I went with pretty much the same layout as a floor display they had which was a 5 door Pax wardrobe measuring 2.5m wide and 2.36m high (Victorian house so nice tall ceilings) which worked out at around £550. The doors have soft close hinges and inside are numerous shelves, drawers and cubby holes. It would have cost over £100 for delivery & assembly but over a few nights my dad & I built it ourselves though we did use some very descriptive words not suitable for a family forum.
If this is the kind of thing you're interested in you can plan it on their website and obviously they'll have other furniture to match. Hope I didn't misunderstand your original post.0 -

I got a free standing wardrobe and 2 chests of drawers in Homebase a while back. It was from this range http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10151&langId=110&q=PROVENCE+BEDROOM+FURNITURE
I'd recommend it as its very good quality. When the house was for sale the estate agent admired it and viewers did too. Nobody said anything about the other furniture in the other bedroom. Homebase has been selling that range for quite a few years now so it must be popular. They only did it in white when I got it and they've added black now.0 -
S&L furniture on Castlereagh Road or McCullys in Bangor do a great range of wardrobes which are self assembly but easy to put up and they can build them for you. We got the Rauch Kent ones and they're first class and reasonably pricedNorn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0
