Creditor rejected dmp amount

Hi, can I have some advice please.

Been on a dmp with payplan for 3 years. All going fine, but today even though I've increased payment amounts, one of my creditors have rejected my offer.

Now I'm worried. I've had no correspondence from them, but my noodle report says I'm marked as gone away. It's always said this.

Worried they will send a ccj form to old address. Clearly they know where I am as my information from payplan has my address on it. Plus I'm on the electoral role.

Don't want to contact them really, and only have a basic address for them. Do I just leave it and see what happens, or write to that address?

Do you think they are likely to sell to dca or go straight for a ccj. I have no assets for them to secure anything on.

Any advice please

  • I guess one thing I've learned in all this never to ignore it and hope it goes away. Your best bet is to contact them and ensure they have your correct details, then try and appeal to their better nature and see what happens. Payplan negotiators may have failed but sometimes these things take the personal touch.

    Re the GAIN - I think just to cover yourself that I would write to that address confirming your current address and ask them to remove that entry from your credit file and quote your payplan reference number.

  • Yeah, payplan have marked the company as rejecting the payment plan. But the payment amount has been paid.

    I could just send them a letter saying change of address. But I don't have a department name or anything :-(.

    Maybe just mark it for debt collection department ?

    Hi there, what you could do is phone them up and ask how much it is that they will accept based on your circumstances. If it is an amicable amount, you can continue paying to Payplan and then off-set the difference by paying to the creditors themselves. It is worth a try, no point in ignoring it as the debts will not disappear.
  • That will invalidate my terms with payplan though and I don't have any spare. They get the most out of all my creditors already :-(

    Wouldn't try to not pay my debts and never missed a payplan payment. Just don't understand why it's suddenly been rejected by them, when I'm paying more than last year.

    When you did your income and expenditure with Payplan, is the left over amount split pro rata between the creditors?

    Are you paying less than 1% a month?

    It may just be that they are about to sell on the debt and so this is why it shows as rejected.

    Worth a quick call to payplan to see if they know anything further - and to check that the last payment didn't bounce back or anything?

    Definitely don't agree or offer to pay them any extra outside of payplan.

    I had this with Abbey National with my overdraft that was included in my DMP with Payplan.

    I rang Abbey National who agreed not to sell the debt on, and I continued paying them until my DMP ended last year.

    Just tell them that's what you can afford and you'll continue to pay them that amount, if they want to try and get a CCJ it'll probably be rejected if the court decide you're paying what you can afford. Just continue to pay them and communicate with them ensuring your address is correct and also ask them why they've rejected the payment. If it is because they're selling it on, just contact payplan to reorganise the payment.
