Hi all,
Does anyone know what trade union can be joined by a Part Qualified accountant doing an Invoicing Clerk role?
My Other Half is having some difficulty with Bullying and Harassment at work and she needs some representation and advice.
Thanks,
Martin

Most Unions will not be happy taking her on just to solve an existing problem. Do you have house insurance with legal cover? that may cover you.
Failing that, PM me and I'll see if I can offer you some advice.:jI am an Employment Law Paralegal and an experienced Human Resources Manager and offer my guidance as simply that ... guidance :j0 -
The time to join the union was when she started the job. Unfortunately you can't join when there's a problem and expect help. Advise her to join up now anyway but if she wants to deal with this problem she's going to have to go it alone. If you post more info here we may be able to offer some advice.0

Maybe. My union's rules are clear that members can't be helped with issues that pre-date them joining. This is to prevent people joining solely for the purpose of receiving assistance and then leaving. Other unions may be a little less strict and perhaps some reps are a bit more relaxed about it. I personally don't think it's right for someone to be able to join simply because they are in difficulty so my answer would always be sorry we can't help this time but join today and if there's a problem in future then we'll be here for you.0 -

Which Institute is she Part Qualified with? They may be able to offer some support.
For example, the ICAEW have CABA to support ACA students (and members). The other Institutes may have similar support organisations. I would recommend her contacting the Institute she is studying with and see if they can offer any help.No trees were killed to send this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. - Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson)0 -
Thanks for all of the responses,
I'll suggest that she speaks to the AAT, who she is a member of. I was actually thinking about future issues, not dealing with the current ones so that should be fine.
Basically, she is extremely succeptible to migraines, and has had quite a lot of time off because of it. And when I say migraines, I mean the blacking out kind.
Yesterday morning they took an attitude of "I expect you to come in regardless". She was only asking for a late start.
That triggered my thoughts about union representation and that if they continue down this attitude (punitive not supportive) then she would need all the help she could get.
Being a manager myself, I can almost see their point of view, and if she was a member of my team she would have had several attendance reviews now, but always supportive with the offer of an occupational health advisor for free. However, I am extremely worried about her pushing herself to get into work because her manager is intimidating her, then she goes and blacks out on the drive in.
Anyway, Thanks again for all the help. I have some legal advice if I need it from Unite, of whom I am a member.
It would be really helpful to understand the right union to go to all the same.
Thanks

The other option to speak to someone about employment matters would be to contact ACAS - http://www.acas.org.uk/No trees were killed to send this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. - Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson)0
