Hi
After looking on here and thinking about my options.. I have got paperwork coming through from step change but I now would like to manage my own DMP so can I back out from the plan with step change? I have not signed any paperwork so I don't think I have actually set it up

I'd probably give them a quick call just so they are aware of your decision and don't keep your case open, (as they are a charity it will just mean they can use these resources elsewhere). They won't mind at all that you have decided not to use them.
Are you okay with managing your own DMP? have you got links to template letters etc (e.g from national debtline or NED CAB). Hopefully you can use the figures you went through with stepchange as a starting point for your financial statement (so you know what items to include and what is likely to be considered reasonable by your creditors etc)?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I don't have anything like that at the moment but intend to get it sorted and look into it ASAP0

In that case 2 useful resources -
http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/debt_advice.php#5
and
http://nedcab.cabmoney.org.uk/
should be useful for you (the latter will produce the template letters for you to send based on info you enter).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi vics
I am at a similar stage to you with DMP and am using SC. Would you mind me asking why you have decided not to use them?0 -
Just feel that I need the control of knowing my balances0

Just feel that I need the control of knowing my balances
why won't you know your balances , i know all my balances and am with SC, the only thing they do really is distribute the money, and do the initial contact with your creditors, statements etc still come to you, i still get my cc statements etcLBM 2 and the OH is onboard sept 12, DMP will start on the 1st November, DFD who cares as longs as it comes:)
1 year down 5 to go and now under 30k and 10% paid off :beer:0 -
I am also with sc and keep a close eye on my balances and update where needed on sc website for my one interest charging one. Which ever way you do it, it is down to you to do this and to fight interest etc.Christmas 2020 £109
