Just wondered whether all those of you that do mystery shopping:
Follow all instructions to the tee and scrutinise everything, noting every little thing down even to how the Employee looks at you or whether ALL the toilets flush.
or
Remember the important bits like the server's name, sweep your eyes round the place and leave immediately even if you are supposed to stay on site for a little while?

I lurve MS-ing. It has changed the way that I look at all the service industries. I really LONG to be able to give out one of those certificates that get the employee a bonus, and am disappointed that I haven't yet!

We try to arrange one eat out a week and stay way over the minimum time. I try and put loads of detail in my report and aim for no queries.:D
This works on the co that I use, (RE) but I tried another firm recently and they were not as reasonable and I did not get paid as they raised a query 17 days after the assignment which I couldn't answer because I was on holiday and it had to be answered within 8 hours! I won't use them again.0 -
I've done a few MS things and will put in lots of detail (tone of voice, body language etc). I've had a couple of things queried (like asking for surnames, when only first names are visible). It changes perspective on customer services to the point where I went to see the store manager to praise a member of staff who'd really gone the extra mile for me. I think she did get employee of the month! Really sad thing is, I seem to do MS when a store or employee is having a really BAD day, but that's the way it works out!DFW Nerd Club #545 Dealing With Our Debt

I stay as long as possible and have a good look around even checking all cubicles if required and wait outside if one is occupied. I put as much detail in as possible although at times I have run out of characters in the comments boxes.
My standards as a customer when not mystery shopping have certainly been raised, and in the Disney store the other day, a lovely lady recommended an outfit for DS' birthday and brought me a pair of co-ordinating shorts to go with it. I felt she went that extra mile so I did give the Manager feedback and say how impressed I was with her customer care skills.
I had a very bad staff member this week, attitude etc and I hope that when my report is received that his employer can turn my negatives into positives by giving him some much needed customer care training.

Hi Carol,
There is a thread dedicated to mystery shopping at the top of this board, I've not read it all but I think you should find plenty of companies on there.
I mainly use GfK, Gapbuster and Retail Eyes but there are many many more!DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0
