Action Credit Management

Hi

I am trying to help someone out - they have just signed up for an IVA through Action Credit Management (http://ebailiffadvice.co.uk/).

I can't find any real information about them, so am a little concerned it is a con.

Have any of you ever heard of them or better still had experience of them?

Thanks
DaveRage

    Hello there,

I've not heard of them before - but they seem to be licensed and registered with the correct organisations. That said, an IVA is just one of many different options available for dealing with debts. It could well be the right option for your friend. Many people are talked in to taking an IVA when it could well be the wrong option for them. Do you know if your friend sought impartial advice prior to speaking to this company? Do you know how much debt they are in?

    Best wishes,

    David @ NDL

  • Thanks.

IVA is definitely the correct route for them, the concern was that this company contacted them. Then when it came to signing, the actually sent someone to their house and stood over them as they signed - seemed strange to me. That said, I may only have half the story!!

Thanks again - at least they are registered. I should be getting a look at the contract they signed today - will see what the small print has to say!

Does your friend have a mortgaged property, how much debt are they in? Did they seek impartial advice prior to speaking with this company?

    Hi

No owned or mortgaged property. As far as I know had advice - again, only know what I am told. Debt is over 60,000

  • It all depends on whether they are being charged for the service. Are they?

If they are, then they should withdraw from the arrangement and sign up with one of the fee-free charities such as https://www.stepchange.org.

Am I missing something here? They are not licenced insolvency practitioners and don't even mention IVAs on their site. So this person might be doing an IVA through them (with them getting a middle-man fee presumably) but with someone else.

There's always a fee with an insolvency practitioner. It's built into the monthly payments. If they did an IVA through Payplan or Stepchange there would still be a fee.

I haven't heard of this company (and I am in their neck of the woods!). I would wonder what the debtor were protecting if they did not own property and why an IVA was definitely the correct solution. Usually the advice would be bankruptcy. But it's difficult to judge - there could be factors that the OP is unaware of but that the debtor disclosed to ACM.
  • They Do not charge a fee!
I went through an IVA with them last year and was looking for their number to sign up my husband. Typing in Action Credit Management brought up this site so thought i should comment.

ACM are a lovely bunch. They are licensed and got my IVA in place within the month which kept the bailiffs from my door. They were extremely helpful and didn't charge any upfront fees.

For this reason i would recommend to anyone

    Hope this helps
