Hi
Has anyone out there got any Tenancy Deposit stories with Countrywide Residential Lettings in Croydon. A local paper says they may be able to do an article if there are enough real life stories to illustrate the tenant's deposit nightmare!

not really sure what the problem is? Just take them (or the landlord, as applicable) to court, cheap and easy. They are still solvent I assume?0

I don't have any information on the Croydon Office but I am hacked off with the Guildford office as they are refusing to refund the deposit I paid even though all the other interested parties are happy for them to do so.0

It doesn't surprise me, Countrywide seem to have a terrible reputation.
What reason are they giving for keeping your deposit?
Are you considering using The Dispute Service or going to Court?
My boyfriend now wishes we hadn't used The Dispute Service and gone straight to Small Claims. We are now considering doing the following, which may be of some help to you...
You can go onto the Money Claim Online website (I think its www.moneyclaim.gov.uk) and enter your details. You can print out a dummy and send this to the estate agent (or landlord in our case). You tell them that if you do not hear from them within a specified amount of time you will process the claim.
Look into the possible cost to you first, but it may be worth it to get your whole deposit back. Also if you win they will have to pay your costs too.
Good luck getting your deposit back whichever way you can.0
