Am I eligible for a loan or credit card?

Hi, I am sorry if this is a stupid question or posted in the wrong place but I'm a bit desperate.
I am unemployed but claim benefits for being a full time carer for a relative & I get income support. Do you think its possible that I could get a loan or is it impossible because I'm not properly employed or getting a proper income?
My credit rating isn't perfect but its not bad either.
I would appreciate any help & advice.

It depends on what sort of amount you were hoping to borrow and over how long.
A small number of lenders will consider benefit income when assessing a loan but not many. But as your income would be very low and so you ability to repay only a small amout each month it would only be likely to be a relatively very small loan.
What are you hoping to borrow for? maybe someone could suggest alternatives solutions instead of a loan?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I just need about £300-£500. I could easily pay back about £30 a month.0

What do you want to borrow it for though? There are places that maybe able to help.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

In what way are you "desperate"?
If you can't get credit, what will you do?0 -
Small loans like this are available through credit unions, though with some of them you have to save for a few months first. For heaven's sake don't fall into the payday loan trap.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

Would a "budgeting loan" be appropriate for you?

Thanks for the advice. I definitely do not want a payday loan. I have savings because I save money for when a cat needs vet treatment. My pet is at the vet now & the bill is expected to be a little over. I can borrow from family but would need to pay back much sooner than I would like.
(I thought it was rude of the person further up to ask what its for because its nobodys business. I only wanted advice on how I could get a loan while on benefits. But I guess people assume I'm a sponger for a living. My brother is autistic and needs full time care. That's why I get benefits).0 -

Thankyou. Somebody told me they don't do them anymore but I'm going to try because this seems like my best option.0 -
Budgeting loans still exist, it's crisis loans that don't anymore.Glamourpuss23 wrote: »Thankyou. Somebody told me they don't do them anymore but I'm going to try because this seems like my best option.

Nobody called you a sponger. As for it being nobody's business what you need the loan for - people ask because it might make a difference to the options available to you (loans or grants might be available for specific things), or if a loan is not available posters may be able to advise you on other sources of help.0
